Even young kids benefit by being read books that are uplifting and instructional. As soon as they can, you'll find them turning through the pages themselves during a quiet time, curled up in a corner of the couch or in bed.
Here are my recommendations

1. The Berenstain Bears and the Big Question by Stan and Jan Berenstain. On the way to and from the chapel, brother and sister ask the questions we all asked while kids and may still as adults be searching for in our own spiritual quests. This book may help your children verbalize their own questions. And, perhaps even clarify those same thoughts for the adults in your family. Read my review here.

2. Meditation for all Kids by Susan Kramer. A teaching manual for kids of all abilities to learn sitting, walking, dance, relaxation, instant, music, running, swinging, biking and swimming meditations, plus a chapter of guided meditations on virtues, and a chapter of affirmations, inspirations and prayers. Read my book summary here.

3. Poems and Prayers for the Very Young selected and illustrated by Martha Alexander. I love the gentle illustrations by Martha Alexander. She uses just the right colors to bring light to each page. Her little people are delicate and bright and nice to look at. I've always thought they serve as models of how I should think and act. Read my review here.

4. Yoga for all Kids by Susan Kramer. Easy enough for kids of school age to read and practice by themselves. 15 moving poses, several types of meditation, and chapters of social living skills and virtues. Fully illustrated. Read my summary here.
