Guilty Pleasures

Drama Movies
These films make enjoyable viewing despite their flaws.

Clinton and Nadine Film Review star
This film qualifies as another of my guilty pleasures. A young Andy Garcia stars as a small-time smuggler out to avenge his brother's murder. Set in Florida in the 1980s, "Clinton and Nadine" has connections to "Miami Vice". Ellen Barkin and Morgan Freeman co-star.

Desert Nights (1929) Film Review star
John Gilbert outwits a gang of diamond thieves and wins the girl in his final silent film. "Desert Nights" is the latest addition to my "Guilty Pleasures" series.

Prague Duet Film Review star
Rade Serbedzija (you may not know the name but you will recognize the face) and Gina Gershon star in this love story about a doctor who discovers her grandfather's Nazi past.

Shanghai Film Review star
A throwback to the classic Hollywood style of "Casablanca" and "Shanghai Express", this film is a romantic espionage thriller. John Cusack stars as an intelligence officer who investigates the murder of his best friend, and in doing so, stumbles across the Japanese plan to attack Pearl Harbor.

The Mystery of the Leaping Fish Film Review star
Not for the faint-of-heart, this addition to my Guilty Pleasures series is a madcap drug farce starring Douglas Fairbanks. My review highlights a rarely discussed aspect of Tod Browning's scenario.
