Instead of loving people in my neighborhood, I laced up fighting gloves, not in a “ready to battle for Jesus” kind of way but more like “if you say anything, I’ll deck you.”

DSEI: Don't miss the UK conferences introducing the new Reading and Language Intervention for Children with Down Syndrome.
RLI, teaches key language and literacy skills following evidence-based principles and adapted to meet the children's specific learning needs.
These events will take place on the following dates:
25 Sep 2012 – HG Wells Conference Centre, Woking
27 Sep 2012 – Village Hotel, Swindon
2 Oct 2012 – Lakeside Centre, Aston University, Birmingham
3 Oct 2012 – Park Inn by Radisson Hotel, York
RLI was evaluated in a landmark study - the first large controlled trial of an educational intervention designed for children with Down syndrome, and one of the largest of any study of children with Down syndrome to date. Find out more: http://dsuri.net/Od0b8v
The one-day conferences will introduce the intervention, summarise the study findings and explore in depth how teachers can adopt the intervention for children they work with and how parents can support the use of RLI at school.
The conferences will be useful for teachers, teaching assistants, SENCOs, head teachers, Educational Psychologists and Speech Therapists supporting children with Down syndrome in mainstream and special education settings. We also encourage parents to attend and learn more about the intervention and how it can be used to improve outcomes for their children with Down syndrome.
Expert speakers
The conferences will be presented by Dr Kelly Burgoyne, who led the development and evaluation of the intervention, and Professor Sue Buckley OBE, an internationally renowned expert in development and education for children with Down syndrome.
