Stan and Jan Berenstain Books Stan and Jan Berenstain write the Berenstain Bears series. The Berenstains tackle many issues and first experiences in a child’s life. They write on a variety of subjects. Too much junk food, too much tv, messy room, moving day and trouble with money are a few of the subjects. The Berenstains create the Berenstain Bear family. They live in a tree house in Bear country. There are Mama and Papa Bear and two bear cubs. The bear cubs are Brother Bear and Sister Bear. The cubs' ages are between four and eight just like the target readers. The picture books are popular. Each book deals with an issue of concern to children. Use the books to open an discussion on the subject. The books help children learn how to deal with their feelings. Stan and Jan Berenstain interject lots of humor in the thirty-two page books.
