The Six Branches of Yoga
It is thought that originally yoga was a practice to prepare the body for extended meditation as well as the mind. There are many styles of yoga but there are only six branches of the original tradition.
Yoga for Healthy Knees
The knee is considered to be the largest and most complicated hinge joint in the human body. Practicing standing poses in yoga can help you have healthy strong knees. Fifteen minutes a day of standing yoga postures is enough to strengthen the muscles that insert and surround the knee.
Yoga Practice can be more than Poses
Many things can be considered as yoga practice. One of the goals of practicing yoga is to find a place of peace within you. It can be anything that allows your mind to relax and stay in a state of calmness. When your mind is in this state it is open to the divine within you.
Short Yoga Primer of Asana
In yoga the poses we perform are called asanas. No posture is assumed mechanically, rather they involve a great deal of body awareness, concentration, listening to your instructor, breathing, and eventually balance of mind, body and breath.
