Lose Weight Your Way

Everybody has a different bodytype, metabolism, and lifestyle so finding a diet and fitness program that works for each individual is challenging but never impossible. Check out actual clients and how they found solutions to their unique needs then get tips on how to do it for yourself.

Client: Richard S., 58 year old commercial realtor, husband, and father of 3 teens.
The Challenge: Richard only has 60 minutes to workout three times a week and needed a structured diet that would allow him to treat himself now and then. He was also looking to improve his tennis game.
Diet Solution:Weight Watchers®, Online weight-loss.
Fitness Solution: 30 minutes intervals on the elliptical 3 x per week followed by 30 minutes of personal training 3 x per week that includes lots of core and flexibility exercises.
Why It Works: Clients who commit to doing cardio prior to a shorter training session will get less fatigued allowing for tougher workouts plus they burn more calories than those who simply warm-up for 5-10 minutes prior to a session. Staying consistent and rarely missing a session along with sticking to a structured diet that monitors portions but allows for small indulgences, creates a weightloss domino effect. The pounds start dropping quickly which boosts motivation and energy levels which in turn leads to more efficient workouts and even faster weightloss.
Results: 20lb of weightloss with 13lb of it fat loss in 6 weeks.

Client: Claudia T., 54 year old retired school teacher and mother of 3 college girls.
The Challenge: Claudia has never been able to stick to a program long term and has serious back issues that cause her a lot of pain leading to depression that makes her turn to food for comfort.
Diet Solution: The 3 Hour Diet & A Daily Diet Journal
Fitness Solution: 1 hour of personal training 3 x per week, 1 hour of pilates 3 x per week, hill walking using cardio coach 2-3 x per week, miracle ball method workout as needed.
Why It Works: Claudia knows that her body is not balanced so focusing on one component of fitness isn't going to cut it. Her fitness program is demanding but balanced and addresses everything from burning calories, to improving posture, to building muscle and boosting energy. The daily activity keeps her very focused. Her diet is also balanced and the constant journaling helps her stay on track better and working on progress and not on perfection. She learns from her mistakes and holds herself accountable rather than relying on others to do it for her.
Results: 22lb of weightloss in 4 months and posture that makes her look like she's actually lost 40lb.

Client: Jalaine F. 55, human resource specialist, recently divorced, busy daughter, mother and grandmother.
The Challenge: Jalaine has a demanding job and a very busy family life. She walked on a regular basis but had never strength trained so her muscle mass was low and this was causing her to gain weight.
Diet Solution: The Carb Smart Diet
Fitness Solution: 20 minutes of treadmill walking 2 x per week followed by 1 hour of shared personal training 2 x per week.
Why It Works: Following a less aggressive program that works with a hectic schedule is often a better way to stay on track than trying to stick to something that is totally unmanageable. The socializing aspect of shared sessions is also very fun and motivating. The diet works because it allows for carbs during the day when energy demands are higher but eliminates them at night when the metabolism is low and it's time to relax.
Results: 5lb of fat loss and 7lb of muscle mass gain in less than 2 months. This is an actual 2lb gain on the scale but because her bodyfat went from 26% to 22% her body actually looks better and her clothes fit better.
