How To Eat Healthy

Healthy eating is a term that gets thrown around quite a bit but whether you're actually doing it or not is another story and how to make it work for you as a weightloss solution is even more confusing. So how do you "eat healthy" for weightloss? The five quick tips below show you how to do it simply and effectively.

No. 1. Eat Your Veggies (most important tip on the list!!!)
Sorry but a garden salad from Wendy's doesn't count as your vegetables for the day. Sure it's a great alternative to fries and other horrible junk but you actually need to consume about 2-4 cups of actual vegetables i.e. broccoli, snap peas, red/green/yellow bell peppers, carrotts, cauliflower, spinach, eggplant, mushrooms, and any other super colorful and hearty veggie you can find. You should steam them, eat them raw, put them in other foods (omelette, pasta, soups, etc). The more variety the better. And the reason why this is the most important tip on this list is valuable fat burning nutrients. Eating veggies will detox your system, provide necessary nutrients to help your body function at it's maximum, and they fill you up for considerably less calories than other foods.

No. 2. Get Off The Booze
It takes your body 2 days to process alcohol out of your system which means that during that period your body is not burning fat or digesting other foods the way it should. If you drink every day you are short circuiting your body's ability to get lean and lose weight. So you have two choices. Cut way back or cut it out all together. There's tons of research that explains all this but point blank; people who quit drinking alcohol lose weight and get results and those who don't just get fatter regardless of how much they work out. If you're serious about your program it's a no brainer.

No. 3. Eat Real Food
Why would you choose a low fat, low sugar, low carb, dessert that is 180 calories over 3-4 bites of a decadent yummy treat that might actually be less calories. Part of eating for weightloss means enjoying your food and learning all about moderation. So why torture yourself eating something that really sucks when you can just have less of what you really like. Maybe that last remark was a bit offensive but it was meant for shock value. You need to learn how to eat the foods you like in moderation. Replacing real food with those so called "health foods" will do nothing for your will power, your weightloss, or your satisfaction. If you learn how to control portions and frequency of cheats you have a much better chance of losing weight and keeping it off.

No. 4. Stop Skipping Meals
So you're too busy to eat, too stressed out to eat, too tired to eat, too this, too that. Believe me when I say I've heard it all and it's unacceptable. Your goal is clear and your eating should be as well. Skipping meals is by far one of the worst things you can do for your metabolism, energy levels, and self-control. Try to think of losing weight as a project, a job, a goal that requires certain actions. One of those actions is incorporating
5-6 small meals into your day. It will increase your daily caloric burn by at least 500, boost your energy levels, and eliminate cravings and binges. The key to doing it is to ban that "meal time" imagine from your head and realize that a meal can be 3 tablespoons of cottage cheese along with a handfull of almonds and an apple, or it can be a portion of grilled salmon with a salad, or a ready to drink slim fast shake. It's not difficult if you plan ahead.

No. 5. Ignore The Static
Everyone and their grandmother is going to have an opinion about what you're doing and what you could be doing different. It's all static and you need to ignore it. You're doing what works for you, end of story. If people comment or question, just smile big and say thanks for the advice or I don't know. Don't get into discussions about why, when, where, and how. What you put in your mouth and when you do it is your business and if somebody doesn't like it it's their problem not yours. Too many of us allow others to poison our efforts when we can easily just block them out. It's unbelievable the lengths that others will go to make you feel bad just to make themselves feel good. Your job is to ignore all the static and make no apologies. You can explain it all when your 30lb lighter and they'll gladly listen to you then.
