Spring Clean Your Diet

When it comes to food and weightloss your choices are about as unlimited as the number of diets out there but there a few foods that should be avoided and a few that you must eat often if you're looking for fast and painless results. Check out the lists and save yourself lots of calories and lots of time.

Five Foods To Avoid
It would be easy to list the obvious like beer, ice cream, baked goods, soft drinks, and fatty condiments but anyone who hasn't been hiding under a rock already knows that these foods slow down weightloss to a snails pace, so here's the not so obvious foods you should avoid:
  • Pasta: it's too high in calories and not nutritional enough.
  • Lunchmeat: it's not the best source of protein and very high in sodium.
  • Red wine: it inhibits fat burning for 48 hours just like other alcohol so the benefits don't outweight the damage.
  • Crackers & tortilla chips: are too processed and nutritionally deficient.

Five Foods To Eat Often
Just like with bad foods the good foods list is pretty obvious. More veggies, more fruit, lean proteins, and lean dairy but here's the less obvious good foods that people need to fill up on:
  • Almonds & Walnuts: add flavor, are filling, and according to research curb appetite, add to everything!
  • Berries: are sweet, low glycemic, high fiber, and versatile so you can add them to salads, shakes, or yogurt.
  • Leafy Greens: can curb overeating and can sub for most carbs; try a homemade sesame chicken lettuce wrap.
  • Cottage cheese: is chock full of protein which boosts metabolism and can be combined with yogurt, beans, or veggies for a quick tasty meal.
  • Lean Steak: has amino acids not found in other proteins is a great alternative to chicken and fish and is filling so you don't need as much.
