Carb Cycling for Weightloss

Low carb diets for weightloss were incredibly popular back in the late 90’s but much to the disappointment of desperate dieters everywhere low carb didn’t deliver on it’s weightloss promise and in fact has caused many people to gain more weight. There are 3 key issues with a low carb diet that make it virtually impossible for a majority of people to lose weight and keep it off but there’s a new way to "low" carb that’s easier, works faster, and gets permanent results. Here’s what you need to know to finally get results.

The No No No Carb Approach
Most low carb diets use something called the no no no carb approach. You eat no carbs of any kind during induction, very little during phase two, then you spend a few more weeks trying to figure out how much you can eat without going overboard. Feels like total torture, is very difficult to accomplish, and causes you to completely lose it and inhale entire loaves of bread or bags of chips. These types of rules don’t work for most people because they don’t teach people how to curb carbs from the start. If you start with deprivation you’re setting yourself up to fail and then it’s really tough to learn how to add carbs back without going nuts.

The Carbs Are Bad for Everybody Lie
Did you know that there are some people who can actually get skinny eating carbs? I happen to be one of these lucky people but I only found this out after years of struggling to stay lean on low carb diets. The best way to find out if you’re a carb type is to read The Metabolic Typing Diet by William Wolcott. The test at the beginning of the book will help you determine whether you’re a carb type, mixed type, or protein type. You might be surprised to find out that all the foods you have been eating are actually keeping you fat. You’ll also be able to finally come up with a food list that works for your body's unique needs.

The Eat Like A Caveman Myth
According to Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist and Certified Metabolic Typing Advisor Sean Croxton “There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits all diet! Your nutrient requirements are unique to you and no one else. Would you tell an Eskimo to eat a low-fat diet? Of course not! Fruits and vegetables don’t grow on ice! One person’s food is another’s poison. There are good foods that are good for you. And there are good foods that are not-so-good for you.” If you want to lose weight the foods you eat must be bio-compatible with your unique metabolic needs. Bio-compatibility is becoming more and more popular because it actually works. The Metabolic Typing Diet discusses it in great detail.

Real Carbs Are Not Evil but Low Carb Diets Are
Have you ever noticed that people on low carb diets are constantly cheating on their diets? Not only is banning healthy carbs like fruit and whole grains practically impossible for most people it's just plain wrong. Healthy carbs aren't the problem it's highly processed carbs and sugar that are the issue but most low carb diets replace healthy carbs with too much protein and fat and their own version of carbs, "low carb foods" (they're not really food). Eating low carb "foods" is basically the same as eating highly processed carbs and instinctively most low carbers know this.

The fact is that low carb diets are a business and they are in the business of making money. They do so by villainizing a banana and selling you low carb banana bread instead. If you are serious about getting healthy to lose weight you need to eliminate ALL processed foods and focus on eating real food instead. Most low carb diets are not very good at teaching a healthy balanced eating approach that works long term. Carb cycling on the other hand teaches you how to find the perfect balance of real healthy foods that get your body to burn all that stored fat. So what it comes down to is do you want to follow a tired fad diet that isn't really that healthy and that doesn't actually work long term (what low carber do you know who isn't constantly cheating) or do you actually want to get healthy and lose weight forever. It's not carbs that are evil it's the type of carbs and how you eat them that's the problem and one that ceases to be a problem when you learn how to balance your healthy carb intake with the High Low No Carb Approach outlined in Carb Rotation.
