Making a decision on which camp to choose may depend as much on a philosophy of parenting as it does on location, amenities, and cost. Communication and Summer Activities  Children with language delays or articulation problems can improve communication skills during the summer - and we can become better ´listeners´ Safety Issues: Heat Illnesses  Children with special needs are often at greater risk for heat exhaustion than other children. All children are more vulnerable than adults in warm weather and long hot spells. Summer Learning and Childhood Disability  Summer learning opportunities can pop up in unexpected places for children with developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions or other special needs. Our children may benefit from neighborhood play, extended school year classes, summer camp, parks department programs or respite and daycare.
