You've probably seen, or read something about those biggest loser weight loss success stories. They're on t.v. online, at the supermarket checkout, at the bookstore, on the radio. If you haven't seen those then you've probably seen other weightloss success stories like P90X, Turbo Jam, Body for Life, Jenny Craig, (just to name a few).
But here's the big disclaimer that most of those programs have to include in their fine print Results are not typical. The secret is this has nothing to do with the program not working. Want to join the few who actually get results when they follow any diet and fitness plan? Follow the top tips below and you'll soon be writing your own weight loss success story.
Follow The Entire Plan: One of the biggest mistakes is failing to follow the entire plan the way it was written. I have clients who do this all the time. They get defiant and say I will only do A and C but not B D or E. Diet and fitness pros put a lot of effort and time into program design especially if that program includes both diet and exercise. Don't deviate from your fatloss program for at least 8 weeks. You may not see massive weight loss in the first few weeks but you never know how your body will respond. Some of my clients lose 16 pounds the first month then the rest trickles off slowly while others lose nothing for 4 weeks then the weight starts coming off like crazy and they start getting scared that it won't stop. Be patient and stick to it.
Forget About Punishing Yourself & Start Writing: I love confession Monday it's when clients tell me all the terrible things they ate or how little or easy they worked out since they last saw me, then they ask me to punish them with a grueling workout. My solution to this problem is the 3 day diet journal. "No evil cardio intervals?" they ask and the answer to that is a No (dished out with a big smile). Most smart trainers agree that punishing yourself on the cardio machine, starving yourself, or detoxing won't fix the reason why you cheated or failed to train but writing about it will. Journaling is cathartic and incredibly revealing. It will get to the core of why you are not doing what needs to get done to reach your fatloss goals. Find out why you're failing to train hard and eat right and you're on your way to writing about success vs. failure.
Lose The Energy Vampires: You know those people in your life that are always bringing you down with their drama, or their sob stories, or their negativity, or criticisms, or bad attitude. Spend less time with them or tell them to get lost. These people feed off your positive energy and will do everything to bring you down to their level which means your positive attitude about the changes you're trying to make will get sucked into their dark world of mysery. Wow, that sounded pretty bad! But the fact is there are tons of people like this around you and they do get in the way of your fatloss goals. Be aware of who they are and spend very little time with them. It will do wonders for your energy levels, your attitude, and your weightloss success.
