The Healthiest Fruits List of Fruits

Research shows certain fruits are rich in the protective benefits of antioxidants. Two to five daily servings from the list of all fruits has been shown to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer of the colon-rectum, stomach and mouth.

Yet an astounding 54% of the population gets absolutely NO daily servings of any type of fruit, much less the two or more highly recommended healthy varieties from my healthiest fruits list.

The Health Benefits of Fruits

People who eat more fruit as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have less risk of most chronic diseases. Fruits can provide your body with the nutritional value to:
  • Decrease bone loss,
  • Reduce risk for type 2 diabetes,
  • Lower the risk of coronary heart disease,
  • Reduce your risk of developing kidney stones,
  • Decrease your calorie intake to help you lose weight,
  • Reduce your risk of stroke and other cardiovascular diseases,
  • Protect against cancers of the mouth, stomach and colon-rectum.
Some studies even show that a diet high in fruit helps prevent many of the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other deteriorating conditions of the brain.

Research clearly shows people are healthier if they regularly eat fresh fruit that's low on the glycemic index. And since fruit is delicious, nutritious and generally low in fat, sodium and calories, it can play an important role in healthy weight loss and maintenance.

The Importance of the Fruit List

This link to my list of low glycemic fruits is a great source of high fiber foods and many essential nutrients. Especially important are the phytonutrient-rich carotenoid and flavonoid foods high in antioxidants, plus vitamins A and C, folate, manganese and potassium.
