Wheat Germ
Guest Author - Carolyn Chambers Clark, RN, EdD

Wheatgerm is the embryo of the wheat berry that is removed in the processing of many breads and cereals. Wheatgerm is a good source of vitamin E, the B-vitamins, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus as well as several trace elements. It can enhance energy and help fight off fatigue.

Wheatgerm can become rancid easily, so check the date of whatever you buy. The toasted has a longer shelf life, but is somewhat processed. Also keep in the refrigerator after opening to enhance its life.
