Achieving A Better Life Experience (ABLE Act)
Michelle Beau
http://mdbeau.blogspot.com/2011/11/achieving-better-life-experience-act.html -

"The ABLE Act will give individuals with disabilities and their families the ability to save for their child's future just like every other American family, and help people with disabilities live full,
productive lives in their communities without losing benefits provided through private insurances, the Medicaid program, the supplemental security income program, the beneficiary’s
employment, and other sources.
The account could fund a variety of essential expenses for individuals, including medical and dental care, education, community based supports, employment training, assistive technology, housing, and transportation."

"Please contact state reps to cosponsor the ABLE Act. Important for people with disabilities to have assets & not lose benefits."

"A few days ago, I heard about the JDRF ad ... shows a beautiful little girl with type 1 diabetes, along with a statistic that made my jaw drop. One in twenty people with type 1 diabetes will die of low blood sugar. One in twenty will die from hypoglycemia?! Seriously? 1 in 20?"

November is Diabetes Awareness Month. As funding is cut or threatened to be eliminated for medicaid prescription coverage for adequate diabetes testing supplies for individuals with Type One diabetes there can be no question that the costs in human life and health will increase, as will costs for emergency care and treatment of the terrible consequences of poorly controlled diabetes. Now more than ever, our children's classmates, friends and extended families need to be more aware of symptoms of unsafe blood sugar and how to intervene. Please share articles and resources with your child's school and medical professionals to benefit children with diabetes and their families.
