Children and Sign Language
Young children with temporary speech delays, hearing impairment or language disorders are finding sign language is a wonderful bridge to satisfying communication.
Thank you to readers who contacted me when the article on Kindergarten Transition went missing - the article is back on the website now. Many school districts hold "Kindergarten Roundup" and early registration activities in the Spring of the year, so children can visit their neighborhood schools and districts get an idea of how many children will enroll the following Fall.
Please visit specialneedschildren.bellaonline.com for even more great content about raising children with delays, disabilities or chronic health conditions.
To participate in free, fun online discussions, this site has a community forum all about Special Needs Children located here -
Recent forum messages have been:
Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon - Whole Children
Actor Kevin Bacon's foundation will match up to $10,000 in donations to non profits who are supported most often in a month through the webpage, SixDegrees.org.
Only the top six programs are eligible for matching funds, and in March there is an activity program for children with disabilities and their mainstream neighbors in the top ten called Whole Children.
If enough people donate a minimum of ten dollars by the end of this month, this grassroots neighborhood program might be boosted into the top six! It's a fun contest to watch and cheer on small programs that make a big difference in their communities! Read more about it at the Special Needs Children forum.
