What do we do when our best efforts in planning do not result in a the outcome we expected? Issues to consider when supporting teens transitioning from special education in high school to post-secondary education or adult programs are often the same shared by their mainstream peers and siblings. Goals include improving quality of life and encouraging responsibility and better decisions. Our children with special needs may encounter the same obstacles as their mainstream peers in finding contentment and success in young adulthood. Remember to enjoy the process and maintain your sense of humor and a strong support network as your children grow up. You are amazing, too!
