The updated version of the Amazon Kindle reader for books and magazines may be more useful than the original for children and adults with disabilities. Advocates for the vision impaired would improve text to speech controls but recognize Kindle 2 provides better access for everyone, including non-readers. I wish the features had been added and the price had been cut in half, but the Kindle 2 is selling like hotcakes.

Recent discussion of the birth of octuplets to Nadya Suleman has included criticism and negative views of the higher risk of developmental disability and other special needs in 'multiple birth' babies. Families raising children with special needs are distrubed and alarmed by these prejudicial, hateful comments.

I'm sure a few funny and/or positive experiences would also be great additions - of course, moms remember the traumatic events much more vividly even for mainstream kids. My advice: never tell one mom it's ok to give a 'pet' as a present when her daughter wants to give yours a hermit crab - word gets out and you may find yourself transporting hamsters, guinea pigs, kittens or puppies home from the party. At a skating rink. (!)
