Person First Language and Down Syndrome
Parents of young children with Down syndrome may feel passionately about how they refer to their sons and daughters. Some advocate Person First Language and some feel that Down syndrome should be first to be kept as a focus of their advocacy. Respectful conversations about this topic allow us to learn more about one another and make us stronger advocates as our sons and daughters grow up.
