Fundraising and Advocacy

As we reach deep into our pockets to pay over three dollars a gallon for gas or about the same for a two percent half decaf grande iced mocha, we may be reminded that advocacy and support organizations, our own local and national groups, research funders, and other families raising children with special needs are also feeling the pinch.
Taking action to help others is an important way to build healthy and inclusive communities. If you have friends who would like to support resources that make a difference in the lives of children with special needs, here are a few I recommend. Reading about these may provide inspiration or information you need to raise funds for local outreach or advocacy efforts.
Tuck a thank you note in with any contribution you make to a worthy cause - sometimes all we have to give is money, and others contribute so much with their time. Together we are building better futures for all the children who bring us together in this community.
