Teacher Appreciation and Childhood Disability
http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art62183.asp
I admire moms who have creative ideas to show appreciation for teachers who have created better learning opportunities and welcoming classrooms for our sons and daughters with special needs. When our children's progress or accomplishments are measured on the smallest possible scale it can be difficult for others to understand our joy and celebration over milestones and new skills unless they have shared our hopes and goals. And we can't often take time to thank them for supporting and inspiring our children to exercise greater potential than can be predicted by tests and evaluations. Teachers appreciate a kind word or a momento of their time with our children, and the support we show them throughout the year ~ I hope your children's teachers have a moment to let you know what a difference you and your child have made in their lives this year, too.

June means the end of another school year and the beginning of another summer break. Whether you are searching out summer activities, childcare options, have vacation plans to visit family, or are looking for work, remember that our sons and daughters live in a very small circle that includes us and our daily adventures. We don't need most of what we used to take for granted and we can get through these difficult times. Be kind to yourself, stay healthy, and hang in there so you can continue to be generous with your time and attention; you are their best investment.
June is the month we celebrate both grads and dads. If your child is going to transition to preschool, kindergarten, new school or a different program ~ best wishes and good luck. While we take time to appreciate fathers, grandfathers, great uncles or other men who stand in for them - or miss them - let us also remember and acknowledge the those men in military service or who are taking care of children while their mothers are in military service. If you are feeling overwhelmed, reach out to others who may feel that they are the only ones who feel the way you do. Every person deserves support and encouragement - sometimes it takes more courage to accept some than to give it.
